Blast furnace shotcreting repair at NTMK EVRAZ in Nizhny Tagil

In June 2020, Seven Refractories Russia completed yet another large-scale repair using advanced refractories applied by shotcreting technique. EVRAZ NTMK is one of the largest integrated steel plants in Russia with a complete processing cycle. It consists of coke-chemical production facilities, blast furnaces, a converter shop and a number of rolling mills, with the yearly production volume amounting to more than 4.6 million tons of hot metal, 4.1 million tons of steel, and 4 million tons of steel products.

The stack of Blast Furnace no. 6 has a working volume of 2200 m3 and underwent a significant repair, which has been designed and supervised by Seven Refractories. “Our responsibilities went far beyond simply delivering the refractory monolithic material and the application technique, even though we have become known as experts for shotcreting”, comments Oleg Sharkevich, who led the project and liaisoned with the customer. “We define ourselves as our clients’ most reliable partner, taking care of all steps from initial project planning to final performance control.”

Maryana Rogacheva, Managing Director of Seven Refractories Russia summarizes: “We are especially proud that we have once again been able to exceed our promises. By using our project management expertise as well as cutting edge shotcreting technology we have been able to beat the deadline by three days – which means a full three days of additional productivity for the client and represents important economic advantage.”
