Premiere for Seven at the International Colloquium on Refractories

Presentation about “Cement-Free Refractory Materials”

The International Colloquium on Refractories celebrated its 60th anniversary this October. Everyone who is anyone in the refractory business gathered at this prestigious yearly conference in Aachen. The conference turned out to be larger and more international than ever before, reflecting a favorable industrial climate as well as new developments.

While it was an anniversary for the conference itself, it was a premiere for Seven Refratories to be featured on the panel of presenters. Giuliano Copetti, Group Technical Manager, summarized the latest trends and technological challenges in his speech about “Cement-Free Refractory Materials – Setting Mechanisms, Structural Features, and Technical Performances.”

“Cement-free refractories are a highly interesting topic for the entire industry as well as its customers”, explains Giuliano Copetti. “The pressure to reduce cost and application time, and to improve performance is stronger than ever before, and cement-free refractories are an important part of the answer. In addition, the substitution of cement with other suitable and carefully selected materials is also improving the safety of workers compared to traditional cement-based refractories.”
