GREENLINE – the new step in improving product CO2 footprint

A total of twenty environmentally friendly GREENLINE products have now been unveiled by Seven Refractories in early 2023.

The starting point was to implement a range of new monolithic products which can achieve a significant improvement to the carbon footprint index (i.e. the total CO2 emissions over their entire lifetime).

Seven Refractories sets a new step towards an improved carbon footprint.

Intense research efforts led by Seven’s R&D department have enabled the usage of between 20% to 40% of raw materials from reliable and proven recycled sources – while keeping the formulation as close as possible to production with virgin raw materials.

“With these first products, we take a huge leap in carbon footprint improvement”, adds Luca Folco, Head of R&D at Seven Refractories. “Reducing emission levels of harmful greenhouse gas (GHG) can no longer be side goal. It is a necessity to protect our climate. Our new GREENLINE products save CO2 emissions on many levels: less energy used for raw material production, less transport, less industrial waste, less energy used. A circular economy is an ambitious goal, but it is the direction we are going.”

The new products bring significant achievements:

Up to 20% less natural resources used, and significantly less CO2 emissions:

20 % compared to conventional castables,

40 % compared to fired bricks

“Our commitment to emission reduction is a core value from the very beginning of the establishment of this company in many different aspects”, confirms Erik Zobec, Group CEO at Seven Refractories. “In our daily practice, we power our main production site with solar panels and we substituted our company cars with electric vehicles as the most environmentally friendly form of fuel available today. For more than a decade, our SEVEN TAP range has proved to be a selection of top-performing taphole clays without tar or other highly harmful substances. Now we are set to revolutionize castables.”

“Despite these significant improvements, there is no compromise in performance”,

explains Roman Cheglov, Vice President Sales & Technique for Seven Refractories. “The best green product does not help the environment if it is not used. With our GREENLINE we ensure the satisfaction of even the most demanding clients in the steel, iron, aluminium, cement and other production industries.”

Simultaneously, Seven Refractories realized further improvements to its advanced production lines, which are achieving an almost emission-free, carbon neutral footprint.

“There is more to come. We will continue to improve our CO2 footprint, because a livable tomorrow is only possible with a sustainable today” concludes Erik Zobec.
